It has been more than 10 years since the AWPP was firstly held in Bangkok, Thailand back in 2001. Since then, Asia has become the production base of plastic materials and plastic products for all over the world. In this circumstance, it is important to set up an international conference in Asia which will give the opportunity to exchange technology and information in the field of plastic materials and plastic products. Previous AWPPs have successfully contributed to technology exchange and built up a network of connections, and have created the opportunity for researchers and engineers in Asia to gather at the same place. The Japan Society of Polymer Processing (JSPP) was founded in 1988, and became a corporation aggregate in 1994. More than 1500 individual members and 170 supporting membership companies are now enrolled in it. The JSPP organizes the Annual Meeting and Autumnal Meeting (JSPP Symposium), in which over 500 papers are presented every year, and publishes the monthly journal "Seikei-Kakou (The Journal of JSPP)."

Our school was established in April 1987 as the Chang Gung Medical College, and at that time had a mission of training outstanding medical personnel. The recruiting of students began during July of the same year, and a ceremony commemorating the founding of the school and the beginning of classes was held on September 19.
